Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at dani@cradleandroots.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A doula is part guide, part witness, part steady companion. She tends the space around you so you can stay connected to the experience unfolding within you. When things feel uncertain, she helps you return to the present moment, reminding you that you are not alone and that your body carries wisdom of its own.

A birth doula provides non-medical emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period. My role is to help you feel informed, supported, and empowered in your choices while offering comfort measures, encouragement, and a calming presence during your birth experience.

A postpartum doula supports families after baby arrives by helping ease the transition into parenthood. This can include newborn care guidance, emotional support, feeding support, overnight care, recovery support, and practical help so parents can rest and adjust with confidence.

Many families begin searching for a birth doula during the second trimester, though it’s never too early to reach out. Postpartum support can be booked anytime during pregnancy - or even after baby arrives if you realize you need extra support during recovery and newborn care.

Absolutely. Doulas support all types of births, including medicated births, inductions, and cesarean deliveries. My role is to provide emotional support, comfort, reassurance, and evidence-based information so you feel supported and informed throughout your experience.

A midwife is a medical provider trained to monitor the health and safety of both parent and baby and provide clinical care. A doula provides non-medical support focused on emotional care, physical comfort, education, advocacy, and helping families feel supported throughout pregnancy and birth. Doulas and midwives often work beautifully together as part of your support team.

Not at all. My role is to support both you and your partner. I help partners feel more confident and involved by offering guidance, reassurance, and practical ways they can support you during labor and postpartum recovery.

Every labor is different, but support may include breathing techniques, position changes, massage, counter pressure, movement, relaxation techniques, grounding support, and creating a calm environment tailored to your needs and preferences.

Yes! Overnight postpartum care is available to help families get much-needed rest while knowing their baby is being cared for by an experienced and supportive professional.

Birth can be unpredictable, and my goal is never to force to you achieve one specific kind of birth - it’s to support you through whatever path your experience takes. Whether your birth is medicated, unmedicated, induced, surgical, fast-paced, or slow and steady, you deserve compassionate and affirming support.No. As a doula, I do not perform medical tasks, diagnose conditions, or make decisions for you. I provide evidence-based information, emotional support, comfort measures, and help you feel informed so you can make the choices that are right for your family alongside your medical provider.

No. As a doula, I do not perform medical tasks, diagnose conditions, or make decisions for you. I provide evidence-based information, emotional support, comfort measures, and help you feel informed so you can make the choices that are right for your family alongside your medical provider.

Absolutely. I believe every family deserves respectful, affirming, and compassionate care. I welcome and celebrate all identities, family structures, cultures, and birth experiences, and I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone I work with.
